The next organized ride that I will do is the 600K brevet of the Ohio Randonneurs this weekend. I have pretty much ridden this route before, in my first year of randonneuring. It runs from Grove City, OH to Marietta, OH, on the border of W. Virginia, and back to then turn to a 200K tour of the Hocking Hills. This is sure to tax some weary legs so late in the ride! I am probably going to do this as a no-sleep ride, but I am not thinking so hard on shooting for a time. I think 24-30 hours is ambitious, but I might not have it in me right now.
My hands are still buzzing from the Shenandoah 1200 ride of a couple of weeks ago, so I put aerobars on the bike to try to save myself from some more damage. I also re-set the front derailleur and it seems to be working a little better. The route is now programmed into the GPS, to help with some of the unmarked roads and nighttime riding that I am expecting. I think this is going to be a lot of fun…
On another note, I scored for new-yet-cheap, luxo road hubs, from which I hope to build a “race” wheelset. I hope to have this put together in the next couple of weeks. Whee!
