Well, parts of this story are just as entertaining to read as they were to hear on Sundays ride. These are amazing escapades. I look forward to hearing more details about those conflicts at your concerts.

That'd be a fixie. Those are Paul dropouts on the back-- they allow for quick chain tension re-adjustment after a changing a flat, say. In the past, this was always fiddly and time-wasting. Note also the fender eyelets. It's going to be a week or two until I have all the parts together to have the finished final result. A new rear wheel arrived the other day... it's a beauty.

One nice thing about the new training program I'm following is the inclusion of 1-2 recovery rides/week. In the past I scoffed at such frippery, thinking that they were a waste of precious time. But I was missing an important element buried inside the "recovery ride" moniker: joy. I noodle along, singing aloud, happily weaving a path of simple pleasure. This, more than anything else, has brought me back from the doldrums of over-intensity invoked burn-out.

Yay! If it's not so clear above, I am still sort ambivalent about cycling this year. I have kind-of run out of goals and so I think it would enjoy riding and sniffing some of the roses along the way and to not be in so much of a hurry. Heh, but I say this sort of thing pretty often! Good luck with your season Bill. I envy your rides in MA.

Oooh: the Cascade 1200. Great choice. Someday for me. This year I'm aiming at the Last Chance in September; this will give me the summer to peak my fitness then recover gently afterward through the fall.

I barely managed to squeak though PBP on a completely flattened adrenal system. It took me four months to start feeling the urge/ability to train again. I'm back!

Wow. Just came across this. I am the Poetic Lunatic pictured here. Thank you so much for doing this. I never got to meet my uncle, but I grew up having him as a hero, thanks much to the undying + honorable love my father, John-Campbell Barmmer, always expressed for him. He sounds Amazing, and I wish I had met him. Again, thank you. Peace.

Thanks Bill. We were really too busy to do anything on this last visit, but I am sure that we will be back in the area and hopefully with time to visit.
